Lovely pink, white and black dress adorned with lots of lace and trim, and is a beautifully made outfit. It was probarbly originally made for My Fair Lady. We also have a housekeepers dress of the same period and from the same source.

There are various other sets in different colours, but all feature covered buttons,and lovely detail to the cuffs matching the skirt. The sets are available in a range of sizes.

A very elegant reproduction visiting dress based on an original from Harpers Bazar, July 1878. This gown consists of 4 pieces which are the bodice, skirt, overskirt and removable bustle feature.
This elegant toilette is of fawn coloured taffeta and dark maroon taffeta. The skirt is bordered with pleated flounces. The over-skirt is trimmed with a pleated flounce at the front and sides to match the skirt. Clusters of bows trim the optional bustle attachment which attaches to the back of the bodice. Similar bows are set up the front of the overskirt and the bottom of the sleeves. A series of ties hold the overskirt and skirt in position.
The bodice is constructed from the fawn taffeta, and is flat lined in hessian, lined and boned at the front and sides. The sleeves feature pleated cuffs which are trimmed with a matching bow. There is a pleated feature at the back of the bodice at the bottom which is trimmed with self-covered buttons to which the removable bustle feature attaches to. There is a front closure with 12 self-covered buttons.
The skirt is constructed from the maroon taffeta and is trimmed with a fawn coloured pleated band at the back hem of the skirt, and two further maroon pleated bands which have been trimmed with the fawn taffeta. The front hem features a single maroon pleated band trimmed with fawn.
The overskirt is constructed from the fawn taffeta at the front which has been trimmed with bows and a pleated band. The back of the overskirt is constructed from the maroon taffeta and is lined to the knee level and stiffened with hessian to hold the poof in shape. The bottom of the overskirt at the back is trimmed with fawn taffeta.
There is also a removable bustle feature which buttons to the back of the bodice. This is constructed from maroon taffeta and is fully lined in the fawn and is trimmed down the centre with bows. The outfit can be worn with or without this feature.

Exquisite Purple Taffeta and Black Velvet - 5 piece Dinner and Ball Dress originally from Gettysburg Pa. The attention to detail on this dress is outstanding. It truly is, in my opinion a one of kind dress!!
Whoever is seen in this dress will appreciate all the little painstaking details that makes this dress so unique!
Gathered Taffeta Bodice with Velvet stripes all around fastened with hooks and eyes, the length is 22" from neck to neck, opening is 18 1/2" , Bust is 35 1/2"
Gathered 3 tiered sleeves decorated with black velvet. Black silk fringe at cuff trimmed with black velvet ribbon. Sleeves can be pushed up to accomodate matching undersleeves. Undersleeves are also trimmed with black velvet ribbon.
Underskirt - Matching purple taffeta material which contains black velvet polk a dots. Waist is 28" with extra 1 1/2" overlay. Skirt length from bottom of waistband to hem is 40". extra hem 2+" Skirt circumfrance is 270" Can be worn worn alone ( for a different look ) or with with the overskirt.
Overskirt - Gorgeous solid purple taffeta trimmed all around in two rows of 1/2" black velvet, black frogs on lower part of skirt. Several yards of 3" silk black fringe, and black velvet bows. Shallow part of overskirt in front is also pleated. Overskirt waist is 29".

A wonderful soft silk 2 piece outfit teamed up with a vintage lawn cotton blouse (heavily detailed) to make a three piece colonial inspired costume.The silk 2 piece is very ornate with sewn decorations of gold braid that create lotus patterns and trellace works also acsented with beads.
Sized at a very comfortable 14-16 with a full skirt(bell shape) thats suits a hoop very well.

This outfit comprises of: A size 16/18 top/Bodice with flared sleeves trimmed with black faux fur, Then adorned with white lace tot he cuff areas. Front "V" shaped white cotton lace to the frontage decoration of jet beading more black fur and a fur collar. Black satin cummerbund to the centre to give an all in one appearance.
The blue sash has HRH royal medals attached to it and is tied simply to the side.
The Black sateen dress is floor length & has been made to accommodate a cage or underskirts. (There is a large white lace over skirt that belongs to this outfit not shown)
This is a very close copy of the famous mourning costume worn by HRH Queen Victoria after Alberts Death.

A collection of pieces that can be placed together to create a middle class mourning costume for Victorian events.Using capes,house coats,bolero jackets,waistcoats and blouses.
The length of mourning depended on your relationship to the deceased. The different periods of mourning dictated by society were expected to reflect your natural period of grief. Widows were expected to wear full mourning for two years. Everyone else presumably suffered less for children mourning parents or vice versa the period of time was one year, for grandparents and siblings six months, for aunts and uncles two months, for great uncles and aunts six weeks, for first cousins four weeks.
